Antique 11.5” Blonde Parian Doll Braided Hair Original Dress
This beautiful 11.5-inch blonde parian doll dates to approximately 1860-1870 and possesses a particularly sweet and appealing expression. She has bright blue eyes, delicately painted brows, rosy cheeks, and finely molded blonde hair arranged in a center-parted style with lovely braided detail at the back.
Standing approximately 11.5 inches tall, she is dressed in what may be her original costume. The colorful silk dress features striking striped fabric in shades of burgundy, navy, green, and rose, and is adorned with beautiful antique lace trim at the neckline and cuffs. The overall effect is quite elegant and gives her wonderful display presence. She retains underclothing and knitted stockings and carries a charming floral accessory.
Her cloth body appears to be old and likely appropriate to the doll, though the cloth arms are replacements. There is a hairline crack to the back of the shoulder plate that does not detract from her lovely appearance. The dress shows some fading and melting to portions of the lower skirt fabric, consistent with the aging often seen in nineteenth-century silk textiles.
Despite these condition issues, she remains an exceptionally attractive doll with a wonderful face and a great deal of character. She displays beautifully and would make a lovely addition to a collection of parian or china dolls.
