Antique Austrian Metal Buttons 3 Dealer Cards 72 Buttons Edelweiss Trachten Lot: $54.95
WHAT YOU'RE GETTING Three original dealer cards, each carrying 24 antique metal buttons — 72 in total, every one still in its factory position. Cards like these went out to shops and tailors as stock, not to consumers, and finding all three intact with a full complement is uncommon. Each card holds one pattern, all matched: - Card one, on a dark navy card: oval buttons, deep scrollwork ground with a diagonal band of roses running corner to corner
- Card two, on a grey kraft card: round buttons with a raised edelweiss star flower and a beaded rim, the classic Tyrolean trachten motif
- Card three, on a dark navy card: round buttons banded with alternating florettes and scrolls, beaded borders top and bottom
The finish across all three is antiqued silver over a dark ground, so the pattern reads sharply from a distance. They suit a loden coat, a dirndl, a folk waistcoat or any jacket that deserves better than the buttons it came with. MEASUREMENTS AND DETAILS - Three cards, 24 buttons each, in four rows of six
- Buttons are approximately 5/8 in (16 mm) across; all three cards share the same size run
- Metal, self-shank backs
- Backs are stamped MADE IN AUSTRIA with a sunburst around the shank — photographed close up so you can read the mark yourself
CONDITION Genuinely antique and sold as found: - All 72 buttons present, none missing from any card
- Faces are crisp with good detail. The antiqued finish is intact and shows the honest darkening in the recesses that gives these their contrast
- A few backs carry light surface rust or spotting — one is shown close up in the photographs so you can judge it. Fronts are unaffected
- The cards themselves are worn at the edges and corners, with one small tear at the corner of the third card
- Nothing has been cleaned, polished or replaced
WHY YOU MIGHT WANT IT - 24 matching antique buttons on a card is enough for a full coat, front and cuffs, from a single pattern — almost impossible to assemble from loose finds
- A country mark on the back settles the attribution, so you are not buying a guess
- Three distinct patterns give you three projects, or one striking framed display
- Metal shanks sew on solidly and outlast the garment
- Original dealer cards hold their value in a way loose buttons do not
SHIPPING AND RETURNS Free shipping within the United States, dispatched within one business day. The cards ship flat, boxed and cushioned. 14-day returns, buyer pays return postage.
