Up for sale is a stunning, authentic 19th-century antique *verre églomisé* (reverse painting on glass) landscape. This highly detailed folk art piece features a moody, romanticized European scene complete with a medieval-style castle tower, a stone arch bridge spanning a river, and lush foreground forestry. The painting is housed in its gorgeous, heavily detailed original giltwood frame and retains its historic backing. Because the paint is applied directly to the back face of the glass panel, the entire composition had to be expertly painted completely in reverse—foreground details first, followed by mid-tones, highlights, and the background sky.
