Antique 19th Century English Mahogany Double Tea CaddyBeautiful antique mahogany tea caddy believed to date to the 19th century, with styling characteristic of the English Regency/early Victorian period.The caddy has a classic sarcophagus-form case constructed in richly figured mahogany with an attractive raised rectangular panel surrounded by carved/reeded detailing on the lid. It stands on four rounded bun feet and has a brass key escutcheon at the front.Opening the hinged outer lid reveals two separate wooden tea compartments, each retaining its fitted wooden lid and turned knob. The underside of the main lid retains an attractive deep red embossed/textured lining.The two inner compartment lids lift out to reveal the original divided storage areas. Considerable remnants/loss of the old dark interior lining are present, providing visible evidence of the caddy’s age and use.Approximate measurements:

Antique condition with wear consistent with considerable age and use. Exterior has scratches, small marks, finish variation and other age-related wear. There is a visible age/shrinkage crack on the upper left portion of the lid. The interior lining has substantial deterioration, flaking and loss. The red lining inside the outer lid has wear and losses around the edges. Bottom covering is torn/missing in areas. Hardware shows age and patina.Both interior compartment lids are present. Hinges are present and the outer lid opens normally. No key is included.
