STUNNING,this is a rare, very ornate design ceiling light fixture that was produced sometime between the late 1920\'s - Early 1930\'s, just as the newer Art Deco aesthetic was taking hold.Made from very heavy castmetal, itis a beautiful example of thelight fixtures produced during this period and perfect for anyone who has a passion for antique lighting.When you look at an original fixture like this, you have to think about the fact that it has been around for 100 years! Definitely showing its age, it was a little worse for the wear; but like most things of old, the quality construction meant a restoration was totally worth undertaking for a piece that\'s now ready to last another 100 years.

When purchased, this classic fixture had been severely neglected and was coated with all the dirt and nicotineresidue worthy of its 100 years (lol) - with virtually none of the original paint remaining.It was thoroughly cleaned and thenstripped down to bare metal to show all the lovely details in the casting.The next step was applying a base coat of warm bronze, rust resistant paint. The casting details were then meticulously hand-painted in bold, period appropriate colors.This multicolor treatment is called \"polychroming\" and is consistent with a large portion of lights produced during this early period. (As you can see from the catalog page I included.)Lastly, it was coated with clear polyurethane to seal and protect the finish. To complete the fixture, I added an antique, solid brass finial. It is not the original, but it fits very nicely with the design.New reproduction porcelain sockets, wiring and a modern mounting bracket were all added. The purchase of this stunning light fixture will no doubt provide you years of enjoyment in your home.
