An antique Edwardian postcard titled "Dolly's Mother," from the Valentine's Series. It shows a young blonde girl sitting barefoot on a spindle ladder-back chair, carefully stitching her rag-haired doll's dress with needle and thread. The photograph was tinted in soft colors: a red pinafore bodice, a pale aqua skirt, and warm wood tones against a plain studio backdrop. The title is printed in red script at the upper left.
The card was mailed in 1907. It carries a machine flag cancel from Albany, N.Y., dated October 9, 1907 at 8 PM, and a Leominster, Mass. receiving postmark dated October 10, 1907. It still has its original 1-cent green Benjamin Franklin stamp from the Series 1902 issue. It is addressed to Miss Laferriere, 118 7th St., Leominster, Mass., and the sender's short handwritten message reads "I'm in Albany." The words "Post Card" are printed in the center in pale red script, and "Valentine's Series" is printed along the left edge.
This is a good piece for collectors of antique doll imagery, children and childhood, sewing and needlework ephemera, Valentine & Sons cards, and Massachusetts postal history, especially Leominster and Worcester County.

Condition:Good antique condition, with the wear you'd expect for its age. The bottom left corner has a small chip with paper loss. The other corners and edges show light wear. The front has a small brown spot near the right edge and a few dark specks in the upper background. The back is evenly toned, with scattered foxing spots along the left edge and upper left corner and a faint spot at the lower left. The stamp is intact and cancelled. The handwriting is clear. No tears or creases observed. Please review all photos for condition details.
