This magnificent and substantial antique Japanese export art pottery vase dates from the late Meiji period, approximately 1890 to 1910. Produced specifically for the Western export market, pieces of this caliber combine traditional Japanese hand-craftsmanship with the ornate, heavily decorated aesthetic popular during the turn of the 20th century.

The vase showcases a stunning Moriage technique—characterized by raised slip-trailed enamel and piped clay decoration that gives the surface a tactile, three-dimensional relief. The body features an intricate arrangement of stylized floral motifs and medallions, accentuated by rich jewel-toned enamels (including vibrant teal, rich pinks, greens, and golds).
