Charming antique original watercolor painting depicting pink roses with green leaves and stems.
The artwork comes from my family\'s collection and has been preserved with handwritten family information on the reverse.
An older piece of paper retained behind the modern backing is handwritten “A.A. Way 1898” along with additional faint family notations. The modern backing also contains handwritten documentation referencing A.A. Way, “Monthly Rose,” and 1885 (scrapbook).
Another handwritten notation appears to reference Minnie Way.
Because the various family inscriptions are not completely clear as to authorship, I am not representing the artist\'s identity as definitively established. The inscriptions and provenance are shown in the photographs so the buyer can evaluate them.
The artwork itself appears to be an original hand-painted watercolor rather than a print, with visible variation in the watercolor washes and hand-rendered details.
The frame measures approximately 6½ inches wide by 9 inches tall. Please refer to the ruler photographs for exact scale.
The current wood frame is a later frame and is not represented as original to the 19th-century artwork.
This piece descended through a New Jersey family and has been retained as family artwork for generations.
