Antique 1880s Victorian Gold Filled Woven Book Chain Mesh Slide Bracelet 7” READ:
$159.93

Parts of this are about 150 years old and parts are vintage modifications. This Victorian garter-style ribbon bracelet dates to circa 1870–1880 and features an exceptionally well-crafted, wide 5-row woven book-chain mesh band. The center of the bracelet showcases an intricate Etruscan Revival style slide buckle adorned with hand-chased geometric borders, openwork scrolling details, and three flush-set glass paste gemstones (two ruby-red and one central clear stone).

Condition, Patina & Modifications ("As-Is"): The 5-Row Mesh: The multi-row interlocking gold-filled mesh track is in spectacular, structurally pristine antique condition. It lays perfectly flat, retains its excellent drape, and shows zero broken links or unraveling.

Authentic Patina: As shown in the ultra-close-up photos, the mesh displays an honest, beautiful antique patina with natural age-shadowing and micro-tarnish deep within the moving link crevices. This warm, uncleaned character is highly desired by collectors and proves its rich historical age.

The Buckle & Solder: The central decorative slide buckle is original to the mesh ribbon. Please note that during its lifetime, the slide was permanently fixed in place to keep it centered on the wrist. There is visible solder present underneath the buckle where it meets the mesh band to secure it. Because of this historical modification, the buckle does not slide.

The Clasp: The original garter tail/clasp was removed long ago. The bracelet has been modified for modern wearability with matching gold-plated base metal rectangular end caps, jump rings, and a functional spring ring clasp. The gold plating on the end caps shows cosmetic wear/fading to a silvery-gray metal underneath, which is normal for its age and handling.

This piece is completely unmarked, which is highly typical for costume and filled jewelry of the era. It is an incredibly secure, wearable piece of Victorian jewelry history that looks magnificent on the wrist!

Measurements:Total Length: 7 inches (Adjustable fit) Width of Mesh Band: 7/8 inch wide Weight: 17.7 grams Row Count: 5 Rows Wide.
