During the war, he served as a Captain and Adjutant in the famous 55th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry.The Business: Operating out of Springfield, the company specialized in manufacturing "Military & Society Goods." They produced regalia, ceremonial uniforms, and decorative paraphernalia for prominent fraternal organizations of the era, such as the Freemasons, the Independent Order of Odd Fellows (IOOF), the Grand Army of the Republic (G.A.R.), and the Knights of Pythias.Fraternal Swords: Today, the company is best known among antique collectors and historians for its highly decorative fraternal swords and etched blades.
