Brooch -United Daughters of the Confederacy Gold and Enamel Membership Pin.
7/8” wide x 1” tall, 14K - unmarked
Three colors of gold.The laurel wreaths are made with green gold.The ribbon and the “D C” logo are red gold. The flag and flag staff are yellow gold.
The “Stars and Bars” Confederate flag is red, white and blue enamel and is slightly convex at it’s face. The white enamel is chipped off on the upper half.
The reverse of the flag is marked; “PAT 10.8.98”. The marking is a bit blurred
The pin weighs 1.6 dwt. (2.5 g.) In fine condition. A simply beautiful and rare United Daughters of the Confederacy early membership pin in three colors of gold.
13 stars on insignia indicate it was issued prior to 1912, when, under President General Mrs. Lenora Schuyler from NY, the organization adopted 7 star flag design for its official insignia.
pre-owned and in very good antique condition - unmarked - the pin is straight and closes still very good - the latch is an old style C-hook - white enamel chipped off
