Collectible vintage copy of Alcoholics Anonymous, commonly known as “The Big Book.”
This is the Second Edition, New and Revised, originally issued in 1955.
This copy is the Sixteenth Printing, dated 1974, published by Alcoholics Anonymous World Services, Inc.
Hardcover book retains its original black dust jacket. The book itself is in very nice condition with a sound binding and straight, well-kept pages.
Especially interesting is the handwritten sobriety inscription at the front identifying Bobby and K. Sweeney and recording “sobriety since 9-17-76” and “last drink 9-16-76.” There is also a handwritten “Big Hi” along with a Christian fish symbol. These personal additions give this copy a wonderful period connection to the recovery community.
A meaningful collectible for an Alcoholics Anonymous, recovery history, 12-step, or vintage self-help collection.
Condition
Very nice vintage condition overall. Binding is sound and pages are straight and in good condition. No excessive writing or markings were observed within the text. There is a handwritten sobriety inscription and additional writing/symbol at the front as described and shown.
Original dust jacket is present and displays expected vintage wear including edge and corner wear, small tears, creasing and areas of minor paper loss. Virtually no bad odor detected. Please review photos closely for condition and handwritten details.
