Published the same year as his GARRETS AND PRETENDERS: A History of Bohemianism in America, journalist Albert Parry\'s TATTOO was arguably the first book on tattooing — previously the domain of criminals, sailors, circus folk, and prostitutes — for a general audience. It remains an important resource. Parry talked to many tattoo artists of the early 20th century including Charlie Wagner, Jack Conway, and Edgar Hazzard, and his extensive bibliography provides a valuable guide to early tattooing literature. An enduring class, rare in the jacket.
