This is an original painting made with Acrylics on canvas. It will come signed with a COA. I painted this piece the honor the japanese folklore of aosagibi, a heron spirit that was said to glow faintly in the dark. It had waited two centuries at the same river bend for a fisherman who never returned, its grief burning cold and blue in its feathers.
An old painter found it there and returned each night to sketch it, until the coldest evening he set his last lit candle adrift toward the bird. The heron drank in the flame and its glow turned from grief\'s pale blue to a deep, burning red, never dimming again.
