Much more magnificent in person. Nickel plated bronze or brass. The top of the inkwell is a compass that works under glass. The glass well is threaded glass so it doubles as a match striker. The brass rope is also fashioned into a pen rest. Nice large piece apprx 9" long x 6" wide x 5.5" tall. Quality craftsmanship and well put together.
Two of the ship's wheel handles are slightly bent, possibly could be straightened but I wasn't going to give it a try.
This is one of the best inkwells that I have ever owned and hopefully it can find a new home with you.
