Antique Candle Box, Original Red Paint, Slide Cover Lid, 1820s
This is a handsome 1820s candle or storage box with its original red paint with a slide cover lid. The paint is quite old and there are scruffs on the edges and appropriate wear. The box is constructed with small old square nails. One hand carved finger slots in slide lid for sliding to open and close.
APPROXIMATE MEASUREMENTSThis candle box measures 12\"L x 6\"W x4-1/2 H.
CONDITIONThis candle box is in fair antique condition with age appropriate wear, some authentic wear marks throughout and use that is expected with age. Clean and unpainted interior. Some slight staining inside. The lid does not run smoothly on its carved out tracks because of the wear on one side, the track has been worn off and most likely has critter damage with making a hole. No damage to slide lid. Remember antique have age wear etc., they are not perfect. Antique items can rarely be described as perfect, by the nature of the fact that they are 100+ years old and there are usually some signs of wear commensurate with age and use.
Our antiques are collectible and are not new and not reproductions, and have lived a long and eventful life and sometimes developing flaws. Therefore, use and wear should be expected with these items, unless stated in description. We do not clean or alter unless stated in listing, and most times have been in storage for many decades picking up old age storage oxidation spots.
