ANTIQUE 18thC CHINESE QIANLONG GREEN GLAZED PORCELAIN TEA CADDY, WOODEN LID
Description:
An antique Chinese green glazed biscuit porcelain tea caddy with carved hardwood lid, probably dating to the 18th Century Qianlongperiod(1735-1796).
The apple green glazed caddy, of rectangular form, is decorated to each side in low relief with a central shou medallion on a 'Greek key' and fretwork ground. The raised narrow neck, outlined with a band of stylised cloud forms, is surmounted with a carved and pierced domed hardwood cover.
The flat underside is unglazed.
Provenance:UK Art Market, purchased at 'C.Y. Tse Antiques and Collectables' according to the label to the base.
Background:
C.Y. Tse Antiques & Collectibles (alsoknown as 子揚行) is a well established seller in Hong Kong for high-end Chinese art, fine porcelain,textiles, and vintage jewellery. Founded by Joseph C.Y. Tse in the early 1970s, items carrying thegallery's distinctive labels are seen at premium globalsale houses.
