Bronze sculpture of Shiva Nataraja, the dancing form of Shiva, executed with a dynamic yet controlled sense of movement. The figure is cast in two parts, with the hair separately cast and applied, a construction method that contributes to the articulation and dimensionality of the composition.

The surface presents a smooth, dark brown tone with early verdigris developing evenly across the figure, enhancing the depth and complexity of the patina. Variations in surface texture are evident, with certain areas, particularly along the reverse, exhibiting a more refined smoothness. These distinctions reflect both the casting process and the effects of handling over time.

Evidence of age and wear is present throughout, consistent with historical use. The surface character has developed naturally, without disruption, contributing to the sculpture’s authenticity and presence. The piece remains structurally sound, retaining a strong visual and sculptural impact.

All objects offered here are drawn from a personal collection assembled over the course of two decades, with a primary focus on Islamic and Indian material culture, complemented by select tribal works. Each piece is presented as authentic and consistent with the period attributed, informed by sustained comparative research against museum-held examples and established sale house records.

These works are not being deaccessioned due to condition concerns, but rather as part of a considered refinement of the collection. Having remained in storage for an extended period, they are now being reintroduced with the intention of entering new collections where they may be more actively appreciated.
