Wonderful collection of five original Antebellum/Civil War fashion engravings from the famousGodey's Lady's Book, one of the most influential American women's fashion magazines of the nineteenth century.
Included are dated plates from:
- November 1861 ( minor water damage in top right corner)
- April 1863
- July 1864 (top corner missing)
- August 1864 (some water spots)
- May 1866
- Undated (lower right corner missing)
Approximate size:
- 9.5 x 12 inches each including the cardboard they were mounted to a long, long time ago
Each engraving is an original hand-colored fashion plate depicting Civil War era dresses, children'sbaby/ clothing, hairstyles, accessories, and period interiors or landscapes. These are authentic magazine fashion plates—not modern reproductions.
Condition:
- Original antique condition.
- Age toning throughout.
- Fold lines from original publication.
- Edge wear, corner wear, small tears, and scattered staining - I highlighted the worst of it above
- One or more plates have heavier foxing and water staining.
- Colors remain attractive despite age.
