4 x Antique 1828 & 1837 Anatomical Original Georgian Victorian Medical Plates For Sale

Over the coming months, I will be listing a number of items from my personal collection. These are all from my personal collection — once they are gone, they are gone!

Offered here is a collection of four original antique anatomical plates, produced for illustrative guides on surgical anatomy in 1828 and 1837.

These are genuine original antique prints, not modern reprints or reproductions. They date from the reign of King George IV and the early Victorian period, making them approximately 190–200 years old. They would make particularly striking decorative pieces once framed, whether displayed individually or as part of a collection.

The plates are generally in good condition for their considerable age, with varying degrees of age-related wear, marks, discoloration and other signs of handling and storage. Some may have minor wear around the edges, while some of the plates have been folded and carefully stored, meaning crease marks may be visible. These imperfections are consistent with their age and history and, once framed, should present very well. Please study the photographs carefully for the condition of the individual plate being offered.

Three 1828 plates
These are the larger plates, each measuring approximately 54cm x 37cm. They were produced in 1828 and are now almost 200 years old. The final photographs are provided for reference only and are not included with the sale; they show the original publication\'s cover page and the date of production.

One 1837 plate — No. 14
“Pli du bras” ~ “Arm bend”
This plate dates from 1837, the year Queen Victoria ascended the throne, and measures approximately 32cm x 23cm.

There can\'t be many original examples of these early anatomical plates remaining, particularly in good condition, and they offer an interesting combination of historical, medical and decorative appeal.
