4 Vintage Moroccan Berber Amulet Box Pendants Hirz Cloisonne Enamel Filigree NOS For Sale

A lot of 4 vintage handmade Moroccan Berber amulet box pendants, 3 in wirework filigree, one with cloisonne enamel in blue, green, dark yellow. They\'re real boxes, all have tops that slide open on rails with a compartment inside like a locket. These were imported in the 80s from Rabat to NYC but never retailed, new old stock now. Size is a bit over 2\" wide x 3.5\" long with the dangles, 3/4\" thick. All have bails at the sides for a cord to wear as a necklace, some with rings for that. They\'re some alloy metal like Berber silver, not sterling grade, but each carefully made, they have a dark patina now, all similar but different in the patterns.

Hopefully the photos with the ruler are clear, they\'re good sized, some with dangles, one with none, but all have bails for pendant beads or coins or something.

Condition is what it looks like, a little rough but in a rustic way, these came into the US just like this (we have a few still with their Made in Morocco stickers in the original little bags), in the relatively early days of the popularity explosion of ethnic or tribal jewelry, especially from North Africa.

These seem a lot nicer than the very modern versions from Tiznit and elsewhere which don\'t even use real fired enamel anymore, but just epoxy paints. The enameled one here has some small losses but it\'s nice and bright, still glossy.

They would make good focal pendants mixed with large beads, or could be strung independently and worn as the prayer box or hadith amulets traditionally were.

Four pieces as one lot, as is, but I think they\'re cute.
