Offered here is a complete matched set of four ornate gilded metal appliqués, originally mounted at the four tips of an antique, circa-1930s, cross.
These are remarkably beautiful little architectural ornaments. Each combines sweeping openwork scrolls, delicate beaded borders and a finely modeled central flower. The design has an ecclesiastical Gothic-revival character blended with the graceful geometry associated with the Art Deco period.
The exceptionally rich, warm gold tone has survived beautifully. The finish has the unmistakable visual depth associated with genuine gold gilding, which was frequently used on higher-quality religious furnishings. The exact gold content has not been tested, so the appliqués are being described simply as gilded metal, rather than guaranteed 24K gold.
Fine Decorative Detail

The set also includes the original mounting nails. Each appliqué accepts two nails through its integrated mounting holes.

Excellent antique condition. All four appliqués are complete, closely matched and retain their beautiful rich gilded finish. The delicate openwork, flowers, scrolls and mounting areas remain intact.
There is only faint age-appropriate surface variation and patina. No cracks, breaks or missing decorative sections were observed. The original mounting nails are included.
