3rd Ed. (1822) 2 Vol. Full Calf Bound Set \"Belzoni\'s Narrative\" by G.B. Belzoni For Sale

We are offering this rare third edition (in two volumes) of Giovanni Belzoni\'s \"Belzoni\'s Narrative of Operations and Recent Discoveries within the Pyramids, Tombs and Excavations in Egypt and Nubia and of a Journey to the Coast of the Red Sea in Search of Ancient Berenice; and another to the Oasis of Jupiter Ammon.\". It was published by John Murray in London in 1822. The book was contributed to by Sarah Belzoni. Our volumes are in full calf bindings with the boards impressed with a fine Islamic motif. The end papers and page edges are marbled. The set includes a fold out map that illustrates the course of the Nile and Belzoni\'s route to the oasis of Ammon. There is also a fold out plan of the Temple of Jerusalem. The condition of the volumes is as follows; both spines show damage and losses as illustrated; all but one hinge is cracked and the boards are loose but still attached. The condition of the boards is good but with bumped and worn corners. Vol. 1 has water stains on the lower corners of the fly leaf and frontispiece and another much lighter square stain of the front flyleaf. Other than a few foxed spots, the text block is clear and bright. There is a small rip in the fold out map (see illustration). There are no notations or owner signatures in either volume.
