Three original (OG) Chouinard RURPs - a true classic masterpiece
Lot of 3 vintage Chouinard RURPs (Realized Ultimate Reality Pitons). Thin hatchet-style aid blades on swaged steel cable — the classic piece Yvon Chouinard designed for seams too thin for a knifeblade.
What’s in the photos
- 3 cable RURPs, same pattern: blade + clip hole + cable eye
- Chouinard diamond-C stamps visible, some with C K (legendary manufacturing stamp)
- Nicopress-style swages forming the clip-in loop
- These are OG Chouinard pieces
UseA4–A5 seams, shallow pin scars, and thin horizontals on aid routes (El Cap, etc.). They are hammered, not placed like nuts. Expect to inspect every cable and swage before you weight one.
Condition / safety
- Used vintage aid iron.
- Cables are minorly oxidized but recently cleaned with vinegar
- Heads show minor rust and only one has true hammer wear
- Sold as collectible / as-is / no warranty. Experienced aid climbers only.
