21 Vintage Cast-Iron Toy Soldiers – Approx. 3” – Possibly Grey Iron – Military Figures
Lot of 21 vintage solid cast-iron toy soldiers, approximately 3 inches tall (head to toe), with some figures slightly taller overall because of rifles, flags or headgear.
Condition is fair. These figures show considerable age and use, including paint loss, surface oxidation/rust, discoloration and general wear. Please examine all photographs carefully for the condition of individual figures. They have not been cleaned, repainted or restored.
All 21 figures are solid cast iron and fully modeled front and back. There are no manufacturer names or other identifying markings that I can find.
The group is not believed to be an original matching set. It includes several different military figures and uniform styles, including riflemen, campaign-hat infantry, an officer, a standard-bearer and other troops. Some appear consistent with WWI-era military subjects.
Based on their approximately 3-inch size, casting style and subject matter, some of these figures may possibly have been manufactured by Grey Iron Casting Company or a similar American maker of early dime-store toy soldiers. Because the figures are unmarked, however, I cannot confirm the manufacturer, and they are being offered as unidentified vintage cast-iron figures.
These came from an old family collection and had been stored away for many years. They were found among other old toys and family possessions. I have left them exactly as found rather than attempting to clean or improve them.
Included: 21 cast-iron military figures total.
The photographs show the actual figures being offered and include front and rear views so collectors can evaluate the castings, surviving original paint, condition and possible manufacturer for themselves.
