America the Beautiful quarters ran 2010–2021. American Samoa was the first 2020 issue and the 51st coin in the program. National Park of American Samoa is the only U.S. national park south of the equator. Reverse: Samoan fruit bat (flying fox) mother and pup. Three fruit-bat species live in the park.
The Mint designed a bat quarter. 2020 did the rest. Lockdowns, mandates, press conferences — and this little S-proof sitting in silver sets with two bats staring out of a slab. That’s why “COVID bat” is the search term, not “American Samoa Park.”
