Up for sale is a 2010 Upper Deck Ultimate Collection Ultimate Signatures Dual autograph card of Freddie Lewis and Chris Mullin, Arizona State and St. John\'s, card number D-ML, hand numbered 19/50. Photographed here front and back exactly as you will receive it.
Serial numbered 19/50. The print run is stamped on the card itself: 19/50. Only fifty copies of this card exist anywhere in the world. That is the number on this specific card, not a general description of the parallel — it is photographed and you can read it for yourself.
What the manufacturer certifies. The back of the card carries the manufacturer\'s own wording, quoted here exactly: “Congratulations! You have received a trading card that includes the autographs of Freddie Lewis and Chris Mullin. These autographs were signed in the presence of a company representative or sent from, and certified as to their authenticity by, the athletes named above.”
Autograph only — there is no memorabilia on this card. I want to be straightforward about it, because plenty of cards from this set do carry a relic and this one does not. No window, no swatch, no patch. What you are buying is a certified signature on a card, and nothing else. If a relic is what you are after, this is not the card — and I would rather lose the sale than have you open the package disappointed.
On-card autograph — not a sticker. This one is signed directly onto the card, in ink, rather than onto a clear label applied afterwards. Look at the photographs: the stroke sits on the card surface itself, with no label edge and no watermark panel underneath it. On-card signatures from this era are meaningfully harder to find than sticker autographs, and they are what serious autograph collectors look for first. Both signatures are bold and fully intact with no smudging or fading.
The look. Portrait, cream and gold on a fine woven texture. ULTIMATE in gold capitals and Signatures in white script sit at the head with DUAL beneath, the serial number 19/50 stamped in gold alongside and the Ultimate Collection shield in the top right. The card is split into two panels. Lewis is above in black and white in the Arizona State jersey, named with his position and Arizona State beside him; Mullin is below in the St. John’s jersey, named with his position and St. John’s. Each man has signed in bold blue ink straight across his own panel, and the signatures are large — Lewis has written his full name over two lines. The back carries both school marks, the Sun Devil and the St. John’s SJ.
This is a college card, and I want that clear up front. Both men are pictured in their university uniforms, the back carries the Arizona State and St. John’s marks, and the fine print reads “Officially Licensed Collegiate Products”. Ultimate Collection is a college release, not a pro one. If you came looking for a Warriors Mullin or a Pacers Lewis, this is not that card — it is the two of them as undergraduates, which is its own thing and, to my eye, the more interesting one.
A local note. Freddie Lewis played his college ball at Arizona State, and I run this shop out of Arizona. That has nothing to do with what the card is worth. I just like it.
Freddie Lewis. Lewis was the engine of the Indiana Pacers\' ABA dynasty, winning three league titles in 1970, 1972 and 1973, and taking playoff MVP honours in 1972. He was a three-time ABA All-Star, the 1975 All-Star Game MVP, and finished sixth in ABA history in points and fourth in assists. He was named to the ABA All-Time Team.
Chris Mullin. Mullin was the seventh pick of the 1985 draft out of St. John\'s and one of the purest shooters the game has produced. Five All-Star selections, four All-NBA teams including First Team in 1992, five straight seasons above 25 a game in the Run TMC era at Golden State, and Olympic gold in both 1984 and 1992. He is in the Hall of Fame twice over — with the Dream Team in 2010 and on his own in 2011.
About 2010 Upper Deck Ultimate Collection Basketball. Ultimate Collection is Upper Deck\'s high-end college basketball release, built almost entirely from on-card autographs at low serial numbers. The Ultimate Signatures subsets pair players by college or era — singles, duals, triples and quads — and every card carries Upper Deck\'s own certification on the back.
Condition. This card has been inspected front and back under direct light and is in near mint or better shape. Corners are sharp, the edges are clean, the surface is free of creases, dents and print defects, and the foil is intact with no lifting. Both signatures are bold and fully intact with no smudging or fading. It has been stored in a penny sleeve inside a rigid top loader and has not been handled outside of protection. Please study the photographs closely — they are of the exact card you will receive, not a stock image, and they are the most accurate description of condition I can give you.
