This is a beautiful 19th Century antique rosewood and ebonised cruet caddy, made by a prestigious Parisian maker. The symbol to the base features the makers initials RD beneath a ship and crown emblem accredited to Parisian craftsmen of distinction.
This specific type of stand dates back to the Napoleon III period (circa 1850–1880) as is crafted using a mix of a rich dark rosewood paired with distinctive black ebonized turned wood balusters and a central handle. The two main large circular slots are designed to securely hold glass or crystal decanters for wine, liqueurs, or spirits or frequently used as a cruet set (Huilier-Vinaigrier) with the smaller central holes in the middle divider for resting the glass bottle stoppers while the decanters were being served.
This is super condition with its original bun feet which are turned into the uprights above. No chips or pieces missing (apart from the bottles!)
