Here is the color monitor that Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC) sold with its Rainbow PCs in the mid-1980s. The DEC VR241-A was also used with VT240 and other terminals. This particular monitor was made in Japan in June 1984 and used by a steel mill in Gary, IN.
This monitor uses a 14" CRT with 0.31mm dot pitch. It uses a vertical scan rate of 15 KHz, the same as a standard TV, and appropriate for 240p or 480i games. Its input requires BNC connectors for Red, Green, and Blue, and Sync. I do not have a a cable for testing it. I have not opened up this monitors case to try to make any adjustments.
The monitor powers on consistently, and the brightness and contrast controls work. The horizontal and bottom borders of the viewing area are normal but the top border is not -- a vertical hold adjustment inside might correct this. The dark horizontal area in the first picture is just an artifact of my camera.
