This round lidded trinket box is from the 1978 Wedgwood Egyptian Collection, produced in England during the height of late 1970s global fascination with ancient Egyptian treasures. It is crafted in unglazed black basalt with finely applied terracotta jasperware reliefs. The removable lid features a central profile of Pharaoh Tutankhamun wearing the traditional nemes headdress, encircled by a border of twelve small rosette flowers. The sides of the cylindrical base are decorated with multiple repeating reliefs of a winged scarab holding a sun disk. The object measures approximately 1.5 inches in height by 4 inches in diameter and has a weight capacity or volume reference of 12 ounces.
