’64 Monzaconvertible, discounted due to a broken strut bracket on the right front. Carhas a beautiful straight body and low original miles. It runs and drives asgood as it looks, even with the broken bracket, but for safety reasons,purchaser must trailer it home or have it transported. I am located on I-94north of I-80 in Stevensville, Michigan, about 60 miles across the lake fromChicago, and 35 miles north of Notre Dame, Indiana. If buyer is local, I have autility trailer capable of delivering it.
The car hasbeen sitting for the last two years, so I drained the gas, filled the tank andcarbs with Premium, and it started right up. After changing the oil, I took itfor a ride around town, and even stopped at a car show. Everything seemednormal, except the gas gauge no longer works, and I noticed brake fluid drippedfrom the left rear brake drum after I parked it (probably a gummed up wheelcylinder from sitting).
The upperbody of this car is exceptionally clean, all 4 jacking points are solid, and Icould find no rust-through on the front crossmember, but the floors have rust-throughthat was crudely patched by an earlier owner. I’ve kept the car dry in the 7years I’ve owned it, so the problem has not advanced, but it’s no show carunderneath.
The olderconvertible top is still decent with clear back window. The paint is excellentoverall, but has a few parking lot chips (mostly on the passenger side door). Theoriginal 110 hp engine runs great, and the Powerglide shifts perfect. The exhaustsystem is tight and quiet, and the tires are newer with 98% tread remaining. Theinterior is all original, and has a few small seam separations, but overallquite nice for 62 years old. The radio plays static, but it might come alive ina location with stronger AM signal.
I’m only sellingthis car because we’ve experienced an expensive septic failure on our propertythat requires a $35,000 replacement, and winter is coming fast. If you need thecar stored safely inside for a month, I can do that, but I am requiring a $500deposit, and it must be paid for in full within 7 days of sale.
