Charles Arthur \"Dazzy\" Vance was an American professional baseball pitcher and one of the premier strikeout artists of the 1920s. A late bloomer, he joined the Brooklyn Robins at age 31 and led the National League in strikeouts for seven straight seasons (1922–1928), winning the 1924 Triple Crown and MVP with 28 wins, a 2.16 ERA, and 262 strikeouts. Vance also pitched a no-hitter in 1925, led the league in ERA three times, won the 1934 World Series with the Cardinals, and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1955.
