I was fortunate to find this rare gem at an estate sale. It was the final day, and the machine was sitting facing backward in its case. When I turned it around and saw “Bernina” I was shocked! So naturally I had to rescue it (along with a vintage Brother).
I scooped up everything I could and it turns out to be a complete factory set of the legendary Swiss-engineered 1953 Bernina Type 125 free-arm electric sewing machine. Manufactured during Bernina's milestone 60th anniversary celebration ("Jubilae" era).
I plugged it in, figured out the knee- lever thingy and OMG the light turns on and it runs! I did not try to thread it but it sounds good!
What’s Included:
Bernina Type 125 Machine, Heavy-duty, metal free-arm body. It shows wear on the paint of a machine that was in use.
Original Portable Carrying Case: Vintage condition fully functional, latches are finicky.
Original Slide-On Extension Table: The authentic cream and wood flatbed converter. It converts the free-arm into a wide flatbed workspace and clips neatly into the lid of the case for storage.
Rare Vintage Embroidery/Darning Hoop: The highly collectible, specialized metal extension hoop attachment with its matching alignment pin. Original Wooden-Handled Screwdriver: The factory-issued flathead adjustment screwdriver designed for the accessory screws.
Original Printed User Instruction Manual: The authentic, physical paper manual in great condition—highly sought after by collectors and incredibly rare to find preserved with the machine.
The power cord is NOT original- it is from a Kirby vacuum but it fits and works and is exceptionally long!
Condition Notes: This machine is remarkably clean (no dust or lint inside!) with only cosmetic age wear, and all structural hinges work well.
There is a bobbin in the case and seems to be one that would still be available.
