The setting is 1942 England, US Forces are in training, preparing for \"Operation Torch\", the North Africa Campaign and the first combat for US troops in the European Theater.
1st Lt. Paul Angelillis, Marine Corps is in training with the 109th Medical Battalion, which is an Army unit. The date is March 27th.on November 8th the Lieutenant would take part in the US invasion of North Africa, beginning with landings in French Morocco and Algeria.
If he landed in French Morocco, he would have been under the command of General George S. Patton Jr.
Curiously the Lieutenant may have censored his own letter as he crossed out the Army Examiner number and signed himself.
