1925 John Halifax, Gentleman Prince Henry’s Grammar School Prize Binding Antique For Sale

For sale is a beautiful 1925 edition of the Victorian classic John Halifax, Gentleman by Dinah Maria Mulock (Mrs. Craik), jointly published by J.M. Dent & Sons and E.P. Dutton.This particular copy features a striking custom school prize binding in dark blue leather. The front board is beautifully stamped with a bright, detailed gilt crest for Prince Henry\'s Grammar School, Evesham.Vintage condition. The gilt detailing on the front shield remains highly vibrant and crisp. The boards show light shelf wear, rubbing along the edges, and minor bumping to the corners consistent with age. Internal pages are securely bound, clean, and free from major text blemishes.The spine shows significant age-related wear, structural deterioration, and surface loss, typical of an antique volume.Bookplate inside as seen.A fantastic local history piece or addition to a collection of fine antique bindings.
