1916 Movie Souvenir Playing Cards Complete Deck Charlie Chaplin Joker Gilt Edges For Sale

This product is a complete deck of antique playing cards from the H J Moriarty Movie Souvenir Company of Cincinnati, USA dated 1916.The movie stars depicted are all from silent movie world and includes an early portrait of Charle Chaplin who had just started to gain recognition at this time with his popular Tramp character.The cards are a complete set in excellent to near mint condition, all 52 cards are present plus the highly sought after Charlie Chaplin joker and the descriptor card. There is no foxing to any of the cards and the gilt edges are still shiny.The outer box is in good condition and shows wear typical of being 110 years old but has done it is jib and protected the cards inside inside.The joker is in near mint condition, gilding intact and the image is properly centred, the JOKER wording is parallel and equally spaced at either end of the card and the multicolour chariot race scene is clean and colourful.This deck of cards was found in a box belonging to my late father, he was born in 1929 so I expect it originally belonged to either his mother or father. My father had no interest in movie memorabilia and nor do I hence it being for sale so that someone who is interested or collects these items can look after it.
