ABOUT THE BUFFALO NICKEL:
The Buffalo Nickel was designed by sculptor James Earle Fraser and struck by the United States Mint from 1913 through 1938.
Its distinctive Native American portrait and American buffalo reverse have made it one of the most recognizable designs in U.S. coinage.
The raised date on Buffalo Nickels was especially prone to wearing away during circulation, which is why many surviving lower-grade examples have weak or completely missing dates.
