Extremely rare Spanish Mexican Colonial "Mondadientes" jewelry made of silver. The Baroque details can be appreciated. This is truly a one of a kind piece, as they were commissioned and made for the wearer.
This artifact was found while metal detecting in the Mexico. I have not found any type of jewlery like this outside of the New Spain region.
Only the wealthy had the means to afford one engraved and of this size. This jewlery was used as a status symbol.
It is called a "Mondadientes" as it was used as a toothpick, or for utilitarian purposes.
This jewlery overlaps with the pirate era.
