Not just a hotel guide, as there aer 27 pages of narrative at the front about travel in Switzerland and lots of it is quite amusing and representative of the time. Examples:
\"He who wishes to profit by the arrangement and the comparatively low price of a \'table d\'hote\' should also comply with the necessary arrangements and etiquette: he who wishes to be free and not bound down, should dine \'a la care\' at his own and on what dishes he likes...At home everybody may and can do just as he likes.\" Or...\"Causes of death in hotels are very unpleasant occurrences which, however, cannot always be avoided. According to the cause of death, it is the duty of the landlord to take all the necessary precautions...It is evident that all expenses incurred, including renewal of furniture if necessary, must be paid out of the estate of the deceased.\"
Most of the book shows a small photograph of each hotel with description, prices and contact information. Many large full-page photographic illustrations of Switzerland\'s interesting sights. Large foldout two-color map of Switzerland at the back.
