1888 Allen & Ginter A16 World’s Champions Tobacco Premium Album – Large Framed DisplayOffered here is an original 1888 Allen & Ginter A16 World’s Champions album, beautifully presented as a large framed display measuring approximately 33” x 41½”.The original album has been disbound and its lithographed pages arranged together so that the remarkable artwork and subjects can be viewed simultaneously. These are original A16 album pages and are not individual N28 tobacco cards.The 1888 World’s Champions issue features 50 prominent athletes and personalities of the era. The baseball subjects include some of the most important names in 19th-century baseball, including Cap Anson, King Kelly, Tim Keefe, John Clarkson, Charles Comiskey and John Montgomery Ward, along with Jack Glasscock, Charlie Bennett, Bob Caruthers and Joseph Mulvey.Other celebrated subjects from the World’s Champions series are also represented, making this an exceptional display of late-19th-century American sporting history.The album pages have been arranged in a substantial wood frame with the Allen & Ginter World’s Champions title/advertising artwork prominently displayed in the center. The complete framed piece measures approximately 33” x 41½”.This piece was purchased in 2013 and has remained framed during my ownership.Condition: This is an original paper collectible dating to 1888 and therefore shows age-appropriate wear and imperfections. Please examine the photographs carefully for the condition of the individual album pages, frame and overall display.
