This coin is an 1864 🇺🇲 US SHIELD NICKEL 2c Two-Cent Penny Piece Coin 🪦⚒️about good condition ~ it exists, therefore it is dir="ltr" style="margin-top:0; margin-bottom:0;"> Designed by Chief Engraver James B. Longacre, this short-lived denomination was minted in Philadelphia to combat coin hoarding during the Civil War.

Obverse: Features a central Union shield over crossed arrows, surrounded by a laurel wreath. A ribbon draped above bears the motto "IN GOD WE TRUST". Notably, this series was the first time this motto ever appeared on U.S. coinage. The date 1865 is struck at the bottom.

Reverse: Depicts the denomination "2 CENTS" enclosed by a wheat wreath, circled by the text "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA". Material: Bronze (95% Copper, 5% Tin and Zinc)
