An original printed party ballot from the October 1863 Ohio election, on blue paper with an eagle, shield, and flag woodcut at the top. Before the secret ballot, voters cast printed \"tickets\" supplied by their party. This Union Party ticket supports John Brough for Governor against Copperhead Democrat Clement Vallandigham, who campaigned from exile after being banished to the Confederacy. Brough won in a landslide, a major morale boost for the Union war effort. Also lists Charles Anderson (brother of Fort Sumter\'s Major Robert Anderson) for Lieutenant Governor, plus state officers and local county candidates including George R. Sage, John C. Dunlevy, George J. Smith, and A. G. McBurney, which appear to point to Warren County. Great Civil War, political Americana, and Ohio history piece.
Victorian Celluloid Autograph Album, 1891–1892
Gold and olive cut-velvet plush cover with a molded celluloid water lily and lily pad design, a classic 1880s–1890s style. Pages contain handwritten verses and signatures from friends, decorated with colorful chromolithograph Victorian scraps (die-cuts), including a flower-filled shoe and a pair of songbirds. Inscriptions include:

Green and white crocheted cross with white satin ribbon, found inside the album. Likely a later 20th-century addition, included as found.
Condition
Remarkably well preserved for items over 130 years old. The album binding is sound and tight, the celluloid water lily is intact with no cracks or chips, and the handwritten inscriptions are crisp and fully legible. The colorful Victorian scraps remain bright. The 1863 ballot is complete, with strong, clear printing and a sharp eagle woodcut. The silk ribbon retains its rich red color and clear printing.
Minor age-appropriate wear only: the ballot shows fold lines, a folded upper corner with small edge tears, and light spotting; one album page has a small area where a scrap was removed; light foxing on some pages; ribbon ends are frayed.
