1850s stampless cover from Washington DC to New York. Black cDS with integral free franke; printed imprint of the Pension Office, department of the interior. Free frank of an unclear individual as acting commissioner; top of letter is sewn to the backflap but is headed from the General Land Office; cover with some staining and folds; worth further study.
