In fair condition. Covers and spine have age-related wear and toning. Edges of covers and spines are bent. Pages have age-related toning and foxing. Some pen and pencil inscriptions from a previous owner. Hinges are in fairly good condition, with pages attached with support throughout. Pages 245-248 are torn and detached, as pictured. Louisa Caroline Tuthill was one of the most successful authors of the nineteenth century in the United States. She published the first architectural history in the country, and was also famous for her publications of fiction and children’s books. She also published literary columns anonymously after her husband’s death.
