This is an ungraded, circulated 1796 France Napoleon Bonaparte Italian Campaign Medal Jeton.
Composed of gilt metal, this medal jeton commemorated General Napoleon\'s Italian Campaign, where through a number of military victories he took command of the French army and defeated Austrian and Sardinian forces.
The obverse side features a right-facing bust of General Napoleon Bonaparte wearing an embroidered military uniform with surrounding legend.
The reverse side features Minerva, Roman goddess of wisdom, knowledge, and the arts, seated and facing left on a trophy of arms, holding a laurel branch in her right hand while leaning on a shield with her left side, surrounding legend, and date at the bottom.
This medal jeton is holed, indicating it was likely worn on a string or chain as a piece of jewelry.
