Afghan Laciniated Poppy is a striking and highly ornamental strain originally sourced from Afghanistan and carefully reselected for improved color quality and visual appeal. This variety produces a beautiful mix of forms, with deeply laciniated petals that give the flowers a soft, frilled, almost feathery appearance.
Blooms are most often a rich pink with clean white centers similar to Izmir Afghan Poppies, but plants may also display stunning color variations including lavender purple, deep rose, and occasional scarlet tones. Some flowers show rounder petals rather than full laciniation, adding even more diversity and interest to the planting. Compared to earlier generations, this reselected strain produces a higher proportion of the most desirable colors with fewer plain pinks.
