On an uncertified stone, some claims you can check for yourself and some you cannot. It is worth being clear about which is which. Colour intensity you cannot check — grading it properly needs master comparison stones and controlled lighting, which is exactly why laboratories exist and why we do not put an intensity grade on this listing. Clarity is different. At this size, with close photography and video, most of what a loupe would show you is visible on your own screen. Our assessment is that it sits in the VVS range. What we test and will stand behind: this diamond is natural and earth-mined — not laboratory-grown by CVD or HPHT, not a simulant — and it is untreated: not irradiated, not HPHT processed, not coated. The warm golden yellow-orange is the stone\'s own colour, which cannot be said of most strongly coloured diamonds at this size and price.

One thing to know before you buy: this is a deeply cut stone. At 3.8 × 3.1 × 2.3 mm the depth runs around three quarters of the width, which puts weight below the girdle where nobody sees it. Expect it to look smaller on the hand than 0.23 carat cut for spread would. That depth is also part of why the colour holds as strongly as it does.

What we can tell you is what we see and what our testing shows: a natural diamond with a warm golden yellow-orange body colour and clarity that on our own examination sits in the VVS range.
