A set which came from the Douglas Fairbanks, Jr. estate, this is Marghab's elegant "Shell" pattern in blush with pale blue shells, hand embroidered in Madeira. Each blush colored organdy placemat is framed by sculptural shell motifs finished in dense caseado bastido scalloping, giving the border a raised, dimensional edge. At the center, smaller shells are delicately embroidered in fine satin stitch. The matching napkins are pure Irish linen, with shells ornamenting the corners and dainty scallops along every edge. The colors are very subtle - the blush is almost beige and the blue almost grey. Lovely!
The condition is very good. One placemat has a couple of repairs, as pictured. Hand laundered, bright and clean.
