1966 the Grateful Dead with Sopwith Camel played the first of two
weekend shows at the Avalon Ballroom, in San Francisco. Bill Ham
projected his groovy liquid light show on the wall behind the bands
to the thrill of the crowd. This is the 22ndimage
in the Family Dog series, the classic “Frankenstein” poster for
the “Greatful” Dead. You misread that right - artists Alton
Kelley and Stanley Mouse were creating their first poster for the
Grateful Dead. Apparently, they were uncertain as to how the band’s
name was spelled. They would more than make up for it the following
month, with FD-26 the iconic “Skeleton and Roses” poster.This
