✨Antique 1920s W.L.E. Gurley Surveyor Level w/ Original Case and Clear Optics✨:
$419.99

Offered here is an original antique W. & L. E. Gurley engineer’s / surveyor’s level, manufactured in Troy, New York, USA circa 1925–1932, complete with its original fitted wooden carrying case with matching serial number.

This instrument bears serial number L31237, which corresponds to Gurley production records placing it in the late 1920s to early 1930s period. The same serial number is stamped inside the wooden case, confirming this is a factory-matched set that has remained together since original issue — something collectors always like to see.

The instrument also retains its original retailer/service label from:

Denver Instrument Co.
1074 Santa Fe Drive
Denver 4, Colorado

Denver Instrument Co. was a major Rocky Mountain region supplier of professional surveying equipment during the early 20th century, indicating this unit was originally sold and serviced for real-world field use in the western United States.

Additionally, the base plate is stamped “Highway Dept.”, indicating documented historical use by a government or state highway department during the major expansion of U.S. road infrastructure in the interwar period.

This is a true professional-grade instrument from the golden age of American surveying — heavy brass construction, precision machining, original black japanned finish, spirit level assembly, and intact reticle. It has the kind of honest wear that tells a story, but it’s still a very impressive and complete example nearly 100 years later.

🔍 Optics

The optics are bright and clear with sharp, intact crosshairs and strong image quality. The scope focuses smoothly and presents a crisp, usable image — genuinely impressive for an instrument of this age. I was pleasantly surprised when testing it.
